Brothers of Lowwapaneu Lodge,

As each year goes by in Lowwapaneu Lodge we keep building off what came before us to make the lodge better. Throughout our history there is one key factor that is present every year that motivates us. This key element is Wimachtendienk or Brotherhood. This is what our 2018 theme “We Are Brothers” is all about. Working together as Brothers to make this year one that is full of comradery and success.

Yet, there’s still one key piece missing: YOU! This success can only be obtained with YOUR participation. As Lodge Officers, we hope to make significant strides towards a Brotherhood that really embraces the ideals of Cheerfulness and Service. In addition, we hope to maintain the rich customs and traditions that make Lowwapaneu Lodge unique.

Another new year has started with some new Officers, Advisors and Youth Chairmen.

We have just completed a very successful Lodge Leadership Development training for 2018 and set the Lodge goals for the coming year. The goals are all very attainable and will make the Lodge stronger. To attain our goals though, we need you! Come out and join a Committee, attend an event come become ACTIVE.

We have a great year planned including an exciting trip to the National Order of the Arrow Conference being held at Indiana University at Bloomington. We have started a stand by-list and have requested more youth slots.

It looks like a very promising year as we strive to continue our positive growth and earn Gold Journey to Excellence status for the Lodge.

As the 2018 Lodge year picks up steam, lets recap on a great night of fun and fellowship that we had to celebrate all the successes and achievements of 2017, our 2017 Holiday Banquet hosted at Al Mia Amore restaurant. It was a fun night full of celebration and recognition, where the torch was passed onto a new set of officers and committee chairmen. Besides swearing in the new officers, awards were given out such as the James West Award, the Founders Award, and Committee of the Year. New Vigil Honor Members of the Lodge were also recognized at the banquet. There was great food and great fellowship all around, and of course, there was the patch auction. Overall it was a fantastic experience for everyone in attendance. A spectacular way to end a great year for the Lodge, and an even better way to kick off another spectacular year for the Lodge.

For those who don’t know, NLS, or National Leadership Seminar is a weekend training in leadership and communication designed for members of the OA. I am looking forward to attending NLS this year and expanding my leadership skills, especially in matters of the Lodge and our Order. I hope to bring back to our lodge new ideas and skills that can be used to improve our program here in Lowwapaneu Lodge.
